| Just 6 more days until I am in Beautiful BC! I can't wait to see everyone again. And to breathe in some nice sea mountain fresh air, cinnamon rolls, all you can eat Korean bbq, rainforests and some ultimate frisbee - my netball skills will come in handy I'm sure ;)

| I've now sat in my flat for 3 days in a row now. Laid out on the sofa, watching trashy daytime, afternoon, and evening TV. And drifting in and out of sleep. In my moments of wakefullness I was feeling very sad and sorry for myself. My lent resolution of giving up TV went straight out the window on the 2nd day of staying at home alone. I think drowning in self pity is almost okay when there's no TLC around and when one has a bug called flu . Well, at least that's what I think it was. What got me really concerned today was that I didn't even feel the need to drink a cup of tea first thing in the morning. I was so shocked at the lack of the little caffeine craving impulses in my brain that I made one anyway just to be on the safe side. I'm hoping that tomorrow things will be back to normal and I'll be gasping for my daily tea injection.

| So I'm at my brother's place and discover this absolutely brilliant pc game called Lego StarWars! You can be switch in and out of all the characters, build things, blow things up, fly on land cruisers, ride these strange looking beasts and tonnes more stuff. And what's more it follows the Star Wars stories too! Needless to say my two nephews are PROS at the game and yes I sat at a distance and watched the experts at work - an 8 and a 6 year old as I was too scared to have a go as it kind of looked complicated. But fantastic at the same time...
I'm thinking about getting the game for myself to play. ... Or perhaps I need to get out more?
I've given up TV for lent and I've kind've turned into an internet junkie. I'm discovering that I need Distraction Big Time to fill the gap of the silent menace that takes over ones lounge and life.
I think I can justify getting the game though - connecting with the youth of day. And it was fun - perhaps more so as you can opt to play with 2 people and it requires lots of teamwork.
Perhaps I can buy it for my new flatmate as a way for us to bond together...

| From Feb 26th to March 11th is Fairtrade Fortnight here in the UK. A work colleague has committed to eat nothing but food with the fairtrade mark on it for the duration of the entire fortnight and a few of us decided to join him for the day. ... It was a lot harder than expected - here's what I ate today!
Breakfast - banana and a chocolate covered waffle mid-morning snack 1 - banana late- morning snack 2 - banana pre-lunch nibble - a fruit and seed flapjack Lunch - rice with honey, bananas and pine nuts afternoon tea - banana late afternoon reward - chocolate wafer biscuit thing pre- dinner sustenance item to keep me going until I got home - brazil nuts Dinner - quinoa with mango chutney. ... Earlier this evening I almost felt like giving up as I was going round my local supermarket. I couldn't face eating another banana. Passing all the rows of nice looking food in search of the fair trade products was like looking for a needle in a haystack. I left with 2 items in my shopping basket having bought the only items that were not snack/chocoalte related.
I've realised that I've become so used to paying cheap prices and not really knowing the unfair labour practices on so much of my daily food. I've also learned that I should have shopped ahead and gone to a supermaket with more choice!

| Midway through the evenings sermon a picture of a tractor appeared on the big screen. Not so strange when you're in the middle of a talk about caring for our planet and being encouraged to shop for locally grown produce. Alas, as I was hearing about the plight of our farmers here in the UK - I suddenly had a song go round my head. It goes a bit like this:
"I've got a brand new combine harvester, an I'll give you the key. Come on now let's get together in perfect harmony, I got 20 acres, An you got 43. Now I've got a brand new combine harvester, an I'll give you the key" Try singing this in your most Somerset accent. With plenty of country bumpkiness thrown in.
Now not the most spiritual song to be had or the most relevant one to be thinking of in the middle of the church service either for that matter.
But there you go, another misdemeanour from your's truly.
I have also taken up an extreme sport.
Watch this space.
